The Spa Lodge is proactive in its support of the wider community in making donations itself and having successful grant applications to Charitable funds within the Foundation. Some aspect of this looks beyond Freemasonry and provides financial and practical help to international, national and local charities to help those less fortunate individuals or groups who are in need. All monies raised have been freely given by Freemasons themselves and not by calling on the general public to subscribe to any such appeals.

The Spa Lodge celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2018 by hosting a civic event at RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate having donated towards the cost of an Oak bench and information lectern together with graphic board part of which was in braille. These were located in the Lakeside Garden area overlooking the Queen Mother’s Memorial Lake together with a variety of trees being part of a new woodland area.

Another important aspect of Freemasonry is the work done to support the needs of a member, or his family if unwell, those bereaved or fallen on hard times.

Recent local recipients of grants include: The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre, ARCH Resolution, Rossett High School, Starbeck Children’s Library, Disability Action Yorkshire, Yorkshire Air Ambukance, Tewit Youth Band, Harrogate Homeless Project Community First Responders, Harrogate Sea Cadets, Paperworks (Harrogate) ltd, Killinghall Nomads DFC. Harrogate & District Society for the Blind

“Freemasonry is well known for its charitable work and its ability to generate lifetime friendship between men, so fitted in well with what I was looking for”
